Meet the team

Vicky McClaren – Manager and Key Person

Vicky joined Beehive in 2010 and is a Level 3 practitioner. Having worked at the setting for nearly 15 years, she is very experienced in assisting with the needs of the community, such as service families. She has completed multiple Leaders and Managers training sessions and works closely with the Early Years Advisors from the council.

Becie Doughty – Manager and Key Person

Becie joined Beehive in September 2025. Becie is an experienced practioner and holds a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood (Equivalent to Level 5). She has worked in childcare for 18 years and is ELKAN trained and is passionate about the importance of good communication and language.

Liz Vogel – Office Manager

Liz is a qualified primary school teacher and joined Beehive in November 2022. Liz deals with all office queries, including administration, funding, finances and referrals. She also chairs and documents any SEND meetings such as those for EHCPs and MSPs and completed the City of York Council SEND training in Spring 2023.

Nathan Wilson – Deputy Manager and Key Person

Nathan joined Beehive in September 2022 and is an experienced Level 3 practitioner. He has worked in early years settings since 2013. He enjoys group circle times, singing, role play and stories with puppets and soft toys. Nathan completed ELSA training in Spring 2025 to help assist children with emotional regulation.

Lauren Martin – SENCo and Key Person

Lauren joined Beehive in February 2023 and since joining has confidently completed her Level 3 training. Lauren is particularly interested in developing her understanding of helping improve the outcomes of children with additional needs and has completed the City of York SENCo training in Spring 2025. She has also recently completed her Portage training.

Beth Davis – Key Person

Beth joined Beehive in September 2023 and is an experienced Level 3 practitioner who has led different teams throughout her childcare career. Beth has excellent creativity and enjoys thinking up craft and baking activities to help the children with their learning and development.

Angel Jackson – Key Person

Angel joined Beehive in January 2025 and is an experienced Level 3 practitioner who led the Baby Room in a previous setting. Angel is passionate about the importance of reading and enjoys creating stimulating visual displays to encourage the children in their learning and development.

Every member of our team is NVQ level 3 in childcare (or equivalent) or above and an up-to-date certificate in paediatric first aid and Food Hygiene Level 2. Each week, practitioners have a dedicated CPD session where staff complete relevant CPD, such as safeguarding-linked training and specific training geared towards children’s needs.
